This week meet, Liesel Schneider, Assistant Professor

What is the most exciting part of your job?
Seeing passionate students who engage in research and get excited about their results, even when they don’t go as planned

Who inspires you?
Personal inspiration comes from my mom and my sisters. They have always been my role models as a child, young adult, and now as a working mom.

What is something you find challenging about your work?
Constantly juggling numerous projects at the same time

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
At times, physician and at other times large animal veterinarian

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Raising 14 and 10 year old boys (YIKES!) and serving as full professor in the department of Animal Science

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I enjoy playing softball and tennis

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Spending quality time with my family and being outside

Which historical figure would you most like to meet?
Elvis Presley

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert but need alone time, too

What’s your least favorite chore around the house?
Putting away folded clothes

How would your friends describe you?
Compassionate

What piece of advice would you give your 18 year old self?
Slow down, enjoy this time of life. Don’t take yourself so seriously!
