This week, meet Cheryl Kojima, Associate Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator. Also coordinator for internships and study abroad.

What is the most exciting part of your job?
Seeing the look on a student’s face when they deliver their first piglet.  Congratulating students as they walk in Commencement!

Who inspires you?
Kim Namjoon.  Dr. Ari van Tienhoven.  The Dalai Lama.  My kids.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A horse breeder and trainer, a disc jockey, and/or a music producer

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Retired on a small farm in Oregon with some chickens and a housecat

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
No hidden talents, but my hobbies are music, reading, and spending time with my family.  Does going to BTS concerts count as a hobby??

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Sleep in and read, game night with my family, nature walks, watching my kids skate         

Who do you look up to within Herbert College of Agriculture?
Denice Milligan, Neal Schrick

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Extremely introverted, but I have a different persona when I’m teaching or advising.

What’s your least favorite chore around the house?
Housecleaning of any kind!  I’d rather clean my chicken coop…at least it’s outside!

What piece of advice would you give your 18 year old self?
Stop second-guessing yourself and trust your instincts!
